Ladrones (Thieves )

by Intuitive Designs

Friday, November 11th, 2005

This is just great. In fact, this is the funniest thing we have seen all week!

The prize winner for the number one spot in Google Spain for the search term ladrones (thieves) is the Sociedad General de Autores y Editores. The SGAE could be considered as the RIAA of Spain. They are notorious for taking a very large percentage of royalties from music retailers, restaurants and bars that play music, etc. and are well-known for their mafia-like bully tactics.

Personally we know of many musician friends that have also had problems with them. For example, the experimental musician Francisco Lopez who, after having belonged to the association for many years, was denied their support, alleging that he didn’t have a significant career. They missed the fact that he is one of the most important international experimental artists who has played in most of the world several times and has released more than 100 albums.

See the results for yourself on Google Spain.

The Importance of Down Time for Creatives

by Naomi Niles

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005

Every creative needs time to relax and re-coop for risk of getting burnout and losing the creativity that gives them a living. All too often, bosses and clients don’t realize how important this is and the creative ends up working a lot of hours just to put food on the table. Here is a great article on Creating Passionate Users explaining why having happy employees means having better, more creative work and in turn happier clients or being happier client yourself.

Time Graphs

by Naomi Niles

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

Time graphs are “Photographs mapped by time. An attempt to use photos as datapoints in graphs (which in turn tell you something about the photos).”

Posted on Flickr, these photos create beautiful mosaics showing the sequence of a timeline. The author of the collages has taken something predictable at a certain time, like sunsets and daily meals, and mapped the images from Flickr out with those tags.

Interesting and beautiful.

Personality Indicators in Web Design and Development

by Naomi Niles

Friday, November 4th, 2005

Molly Holzschlag, web usability and accessibility expert and author of more than 30 books, has posted an amusing, but true list of personality indicators for web designers and developers similar to the Meyers-Briggs personality indicators. In our experience here at the studio as designers and while working and communicating with other designers, we think this is pretty spot on. We believe we at Intuitive Designs fit generally into the SAVD (Standards Aware Visual Designer) and the SACE (Standards Aware Cutting Edge) personality groups.

If you are a web designer or developer, where do you fit in?
