Sometimes I remember how different things used to be when I first started working in a professional design studio, 20 years ago, and I have the impression that if the illustrators and designers from those days would have had the opportunity of foresee how technology would change our work we would have thought it was all science-fiction.
As many of you might have noticed, we have just finished the redesign of our site. We have tried to make it leaner, meaner, and more standards compliant and more beautiful visually. Koldo Barroso, one of the owners of the studio did the illustrations of the site and is currently available for illustration work. He can do just about any type of illustration you might imagine, so if you need something done, feel free to contact us!
We welcome and appreciate any feeback or suggestions you might have as well. Thank you!
It happens to all designers at least once in their career. You have a potential client that wants you to give them a few concepts, ideas, or designs before they hire you so that they can decide if they like the work first. Or, you are hiring a designer and want to hold a contest to pick your future designer. This is bad for both clients and designers. Visit the NO!SPEC site to find out why.
We just came across this amusing, but somewhat cheeky article from Software is Too Expensive to Build Cheaply entitled If Architects Had To Work Like Web Designers…. Some of the analogies are actually pretty close. One of the more amusing ones:
Wouldn’t it be interesting to know what the order or things is that people look at on your web site. Here is an interesting web usability study noting what people actually look at first, how they read the web site, and the behaviors they have depending on age, type of web site, and other variables. While they say you shouldn’t take the results too seriously, it still makes a very interesting read.
Few of us are so fortunate as to be able to do what we love for a living, but to do this is a challenge in itself. Most of us need the security of our day jobs and simply think we just could never make a living doing what we like to do best. Fortunately for us here at the studio, we do a combinations of what we love best, designing and providing solutions for businesses who need them. And we get to do it every day!
We at Intuitive Designs are constantly learning and growing every day. One of the things we do towards this goal and study web standards and make each new web site we do more standards compliant.
