I came across this video through Twitter on Monday. I don’t remember now who tweeted it, but thank you whoever it was! It was done by Cognitive Media for a Dan Pink talk at RSA in London.
There is something that’s been on my mind for awhile that I think needs to be addressed. It comes into our own sphere often and it’s something that I explain to new prospects on a near weekly basis.
My next guide for designers is out now. I decided to go with this guide next in the series because I noticed that designers were having issues with clients all the time. We used to also, until we started working out better ways to deal with clients that made our lives easier and the process more satisfying. It’s all about the relationship!
You know how sometimes you read something and you get this sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach that perhaps you’ve been going about things all wrong?
Oh, do we have another fun website design to talk about. Oh, do we. Can you tell by now that I tend to get excited about new client site launches?

First Guide is Out! - How to Prepare a Competitive Analysis That Virtually guarantees you get that n
by Naomi Niles
I am so very excited to announce the first guide in the Guides for Designers series, “How to Prepare a Competitive Analysis That Virtually guarantees you get that new project.”.
I decided to do this guide first because I think it will be especially helpful for web designers who need to get more great projects AND get paid better. It contains the following:
You know how every once in awhile a new client approaches you with a project that you think, “Wow, that’s going to be so great!”. That was how it was when Larry approached us to design his new site, The Solopreneur Life.
Several people have asked when the first guide is coming out, so I thought I’d write a quick blog post to address that.
First of all, thank you to all of you who have been so supportive. Many people signed up on the notification list and there’s been a lot more interest than I planned. That’s awesome!!
